Please help us raise money for Parkside with PASSIVE FUNDRAISING. What is passive fundraising? Passive fundraising refers to any campaign in which supporters generate revenue for charitable causes as they go about their daily activities, often without spending any money they wouldn’t have otherwise. How cool is that?!?

During hot or cold weather, Craig and Trina Chalmers are still collecting CRV beverage containers and do so year-round. We have been doing this for about 10 years to turn CRV containers into money for special projects. CRV = California Redemption Value; you paid a deposit at the store when you bought them. At the beginning of our efforts, a renewal of the north parking lot was our focus. We hear that will eventually be taken care of by a cell phone company, who will be expanding their infrastructure to that area. Now we are collecting CRV beverage containers to raise money for Landscaping projects. HOW CAN YOU HELP?

You can contribute your empty CRV beverage containers to us by

  1. Bagging them and putting them in the CRV recycling container in the Fellowship Hall, if you don’t have much. (Please let us know so that we can collect them),

  2. Giving us a heads up that you’ll be bringing a large quantity of bagged CRV containers to church, and we can get them from you there,

  3. Dropping them off at our house (contact church office to schedule a time) or

  4. Arranging with us to pick them up from you.

  5. If you are able, you can further help by smashing the aluminum cans and plastic bottles. This would be very helpful but not required.

What are the CRV items you can donate to this effort? ALL of them! Aluminum, Plastic, and Glass beverage containers. These are the beverages you would buy on the water/sparkling water isles, soda/iced tea/beer isles and on the liquor isles, including wine and liquor bottles. Also, alternative non-dairy milk and juice bottles are CRV bottles. Please note that dairy milk and dairy smoothie bottles are NOT currently CRV items, in other words, you did not pay a CRV deposit for them.

We are currently recycling an average of $115 worth of CRV containers approximately every month and a half for special projects. We’ve been collecting from Parksiders, among others, since before the pandemic. Now, there are many more of you who didn’t even know we’ve been raising funds this way! With your help, we can recycle much more and grow that Special Projects fund to help our Budget.

Please speak to Craig or Trina Chalmers, or the church office, about the history of our effort, who started it and participated in it, and how you can help in this effort.
