Common Questions

What type of church is Parkside?

Parkside Community Church is a progressive Christian community with four values we live by: we are a caring community, pursuing justice, practicing diversity and promoting spiritual journeys. We are made up of people with a wide array of faith backgrounds and life experiences. We are Progressive Christians who take the Bible seriously but not literally, and we honor the faith traditions of others. As far as our church network or denomination goes, Parkside is a United Church of Christ (UCC) church.

Parkside is a “hybrid” church: live in-person and online.

You can join our services LIVE Sundays at 10:30 am PT here on the website or at the church 5700 S. Land Park Dr. Sacramento, CA. Masks are optional.

What can I expect during a Sunday service?

Our online service is similar to our in-person experience - A typical Sunday offers music. We provide an opportunity to greet one another. A message is provided by our pastor, or a guest. We also make time for prayers from the community - prayers of thanks and concern offered aloud by individuals for loved ones, our greater community or our world. Donations (or offerings) to support keeping the church running are welcomed but not required.

What do you offer for kids on Sundays?

We have a moment for children to hear a special message just for them. When we gather in person, children begin their program in the main sanctuary, enjoying a children’s message during the service before they accompany one of our ministers and volunteer Sunday School teacher to classrooms for their own worship and educational activities. Children under 6 may play in the nursery with our trained child care givers.

What do you offer for youth on Sundays?

Our youth meet once a month after Sunday Service, check out our youth page for information and dates.

What should I wear to service?

Parkside is a church for everyone. Wear what makes you comfortable.

What happens when I arrive?

Our sanctuary entrance is nestled between the two main buildings. Someone from our welcome team will guide you into the church. If you have kids, there are coloring activities they can take with them into the pews until our children’s message. Unsure where to sit? Our hosts can help you find a spot.
