El Parkis is a Youth Ministry for ALL serving middle and high school youth throughout the greater Sacramento area.

El Parkis Walk-A-Thon
WHAT is the Walk-A-Thon
Every year during Lent El Parkis youth set aside time to walk as a community, as individuals, and in small groups. Participants set a goal of how many miles they hope to walk over the 40 days. Every Sunday, miles walked are reported to Youth Director Luke. Those who meet or exceed their goal win a prize at the end of Lent!
WHY the Walk-A-Thon
It's a fundraiser for the Summer Service Trip! Church members, friends, and family can support our efforts by pledging any amount per mile our group walks. All funds raised go towards providing scholarships for our Summer Service Trip.
HOW to Walk-A-Thon
Sign up & set your mileage goal (see button below)
Track your miles from February 14th-March 28th - download the Pedometer App for iPhone or Android, take a screenshot of your miles walked every Sunday & send it to Youth Director Luke.
WALK! Walk in your neighborhood, walk at school, walk your dog, walk with US, walk at Youth Group. It all counts towards your goal.
Share the donor form with anyone you know who would want to help support our goal (see button below)

SUMMER SERVICE TRIP
June 30-July 5, 2024
Del Norte County
Join El Parkis & Sierra Service Project for a 5 night service trip to Del Norte County! Volunteers will rotate through community-based projects, many of which have an environmental focus. These include forest thinning and blackberry bush removal with Elk Valley Rancheria, invasive species removal with the Tolowa Dunes Stewards, and working in the community gardens across Del Norte County. Youth Group
How it works: Once a month, youth from Elk Grove, Loomis, and Parkside UCCs and throughout the community come together for an all El Parkis Youth Ministry Event. We volunteer locally, embark on overnight service trips, play pickup sports games, make art, and throw top notch BBQs.
Throughout the rest of the month, youth programming happens once a month at Parkside & Elk Grove, once a month online via Discord, and every Wednesday night at Loomis. We share a meal together, have youth group, and participate in Sunday Worship.
Anyone can join- you don’t have to belong to a church or even be religious. All are welcome. And there are ALWAYS SNACKS.
Join us for our all El Parkis events and/or individual youth programming at the location of your choice: Elk Grove UCC, Parkside Community Church, and Loomis Basin UCC.
Our youth serve the community through various projects related to hunger and homelessness, standing up for LGBTQ+ rights, speaking out for racial justice, and being caretakers of our natural resources.
Current partners include: Safe Harbor, Sierra Native Alliance, The Latino Leadership Council, Auburn Hip Hop Congress, Sacramento Black Lives Matter, The American River Parkway Foundation, Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention, The Sierra Service Project, and SSIP Food Closet.
We also serve our congregations through participating in worship- offering music, dance, preaching, and planning.
