What you'll find at Parkside:

A Vital Congregation:

  • We joyfully worship God with open hearts and minds each Sunday
  • Engaging sermons which challenge us to follow in the way of Jesus Christ
  • A safe place to speak your doubts and ask your questions as we journey together.

Open and Affirming:

  • "Open and Affirming" means everyone is welcome to participate fully in our life and ministry including people of all sexual orientations.

Friendship and the Spirit of Love:

  • We are a welcoming, loving congregation—and we love to eat together!
  • Newcomers return to Parkside because of the friendly atmosphere they experience as a visitor.

  • People from many cultural, ethnic, religious, and racial backgrounds make up our congregation.
  • Families, singles, elders and youth all have a home.

The Perk-side Cafe!

  • The only UCC coffee bar in No. California, we offer Fair-Trade coffee, tea, and chocolate.  You are invited to enjoy a specialty iced beverage before or after worship while you get to know other Parksiders

  • We enjoy life and laugh; with each other and at ourselves.
  • We believe God has a sense of humor and we celebrate that on Holy Humor Sunday!

Arts in Worship:

  • From Reader’s Theater pieces to sketches to monologues, drama brings the lessons of the Gospel alive and relevant to us today.

  • Liturgical dance is offered reminding us to bring our whole selves to worship God in praise and movement.

  • Sacred art visually uplifts and inspires us as we connect to the Holy One.

Parkside is also a proud and active member of the Sacramento Valley Association of churches in the United Church of Christ.

About the UCC

Intelligent dialogue and a strong independent streak sometimes cause the United Church of Christ (UCC) and its 1.2 million members to be called a “heady and exasperating mix.” The UCC tends to be a mostly progressive denomination that unabashedly engages heart and mind. And yet, the UCC somehow manages to balance congregational autonomy with a strong commitment to unity among its nearly 5,600 congregations—despite wide differences among many local congregations on a variety of issues.
